Artistic Director, Shawuanna Williams-Lewis dance journey began at the age of 4 years old. By age 6, she was performing with the “Eye of the Tiger” dance company founded and produced by Beverly Branson and her sister stage and television actress, Dr. Tonea Stewart. Shawuanna began performing in stage productions by the age of 7.  In 1985, she was selected for the Academic and Performing Arts Complex (APAC) program, where she studied ballet, modern, and jazz at Ballet Mississippi.  Shawuanna turned to dance as a creative outlet and spiritual solace.  She decided to focus on becoming a more diversified dance artist, expanding her studies from acrobatic creative dance, to more contemporary dance styles, such as: jazz, hip hop, Middle Eastern, and inspirational.

In 2004, Shawuanna relocated to Atlanta, Georgia and began working within the burgeoning entertainment industry, working with various, well-known R&B and Hip Hop artists throughout the metro Atlanta area.  It was in Atlanta where she began to hone her craft as a choreographer and develop essential relationships and knowledge of the dance & entertainment industry. Inspired by FAITH and always the artist and educator at heart, in 2010, Shawuanna founded Eyeshine Creative Arts Company. (ECAC) serves as a multi-genre dance and performing arts company that host showcases and theatrical productions throughout the year.Creative Praise is a dance style created in 2012, by Founder/Artistic Director/Choreographer, Shawuanna Williams-Lewis.  This dance style combines ballet, jazz, hip hop, liturgical dance and is performed only to gospel and inspirational music. Many have described this dance style as, “adding a broadway flava to gospel music”.

In 2012, Eyeshine Creative Arts Company produced its first comprehensive production, "A Soulful Christmas" (a soul full of Christ), a theatrical production which blended music and dance in celebrating the birth of Christ. ECAC continued to soar in 2013, and produced, “At the Cross”, sold out theatrical play, “A Christmas Gift”, and 2017-18 “Spinderella” presented at the Thalia Mara Hall in Jackson, MS.   Other ECAC produced events include the annual Creative Praise Showcase and Praize.  ECAC was recognized in 2015 for its remarkable business and leadership in the US Congressional Record by Rep. Bennie G. Thompson, and the 2015 Grand Champions of the Dance In His Name Showcase/Competition, Memphis, TN. ECAC goal is not only to provide quality dance training, but also to empower the students and audiences with inspirational theme-based performances.
